ABOUT LUCI

My first innate experience of belonging was with my single dad & grandparents within our working-class family in the Midlands. My dad was a visionary innovator & where he dedicated his creative fortitude to applied science, he inspirited mine in the social sciences nurturing a deep appreciation of the meaning in the everyday; the extraordinary ordinary. I obtained my degree in Sociology at Staffordshire University & from there I was enticed to Brighton to follow free parties just for the summer. I just never left. I completed my MSc in Health through Occupation before coming full circle back to the University of Brighton as a lecturer of occupational therapy. I am also a single parent myself; they are both incredible & I am proud of our love, legacy & learning together. Although my Dad died in 2015, an unanticipated aspect of my work has been the evolvement of our connection in the present. I will close this introduction with the developing understanding that our belonging is not predetermined to end. Even when we do.
