capturing car boot culture via a photographic & occupational lens, exploring abandonment & belonging through found photography

During the last three years I have taken photographs of car boot culture & become immersed in finding abandoned photos within this community. As a senior lecturer of occupational therapy, I interpret the world via an occupational perspective which considers the everyday meaningful activities that occupy a persons time; individually, with others, within communities. These subjective constructed experiences occur within a one-time unique context which photography captures. The photos I find & preserve from destruction present insight to raw moments of every-day real world participation. These would have meaning for the photographed &/or the photographer. Each anonymous photo tells us a story & by sharing them I enable viewing of doing; a perpetuation of their stories through our own reflections, elicitation of feelings in response to them & an experience of their transformative power with our own sense of meaning, connection & belonging.
